Dr. Carolyn J. Benson, Principal
I have been with DeKalb County School District for many years. I have worked as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in both the elementary and middle schools, respectively. This is my fourth year at Rainbow Elementary as principal and I enjoy the time I spend with the students, faculty and staff, and key stakeholders. I love children and believe they all can learn and that every opportunity can be turned into a teachable moment and positive learning experience.
In previous years, DeKalb County School District printed on the bottom of its letterhead the phrase, "The school can not live apart from the community.'' I am a firm believer in that statement. Here at Rainbow, we welcome our parents into the building. We encourage parental involvement. We ask that you come visit us and witness how active and engaged our children are in learning. Just let us know you are here by signing in at the front office and then be prepared for a wonderful experience working with our children.
Ms. Darlene Herbert, Assistant Principal
I am pleased to be the Assistant Principal at Rainbow Elementary School. A place where learning is an enjoyable experience and all of our students are challenged to learn and study. Each school year is positive, exciting and rewarding. We at Rainbow genuinely want to work together with our parents and the community to make our school environment the very best for our children. As the school year progresses, we encourage all of our parents and our
community to call and visit the school. We will, with your cooperation, have an excellent and positive school year.
